ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Homeless youth advocates gather community leaders for the National Day of Hope.
Open Arms hosted the event at the Hines AME Church this morning. Lighting a candle symbolizing the call to end child abuse and neglect.
Open Arms wants to work more closely with faith and law enforcement and schools to protect youth, especially those who have run away from home.
Center Director Tamaro Hayes said "Make sure they know Open Arms here, even throughout the churches, the Dougherty County School System, the police department. It is a place they can come. They can get services as they can get help."
April is National Child Abuse prevention month.
Youth who need help in South Georgia can call the Open Arms Crisis Line at 229-431-0217 for help.
