ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Albany's indoor football team is seeking their first win of the season Saturday evening.
The Firebirds have come a long way from their season opening blowout loss in Columbus.
Antwone Savage says the team is developing and learning well under his leadership. This past week, the team added 5 players including the Mack twins.
Jacksonville native Montaque Mack will be traveling up all season to play the linebacker position. The former Jacksonville university athlete is excited to suit up in the red and black.
"Coach Savage he's a great man that he's giving me the opportunity to play football," says Mack. "I've been out of football since last April, and I just take my hat off to the man, i thank this man, I thank God."
Savage feels his new addition will contribute to them getting their first win, and he wants all of Albany to come out and witness it first hand.
"The more people we bring in the better chance we have to win," said Savage. "But on a good tip, I feel good about this game this weekend. We're going to come away with a "W" I really can use my fan base in here, that's like a 9th man. making noise, getting them frustrated, and getting under their skin."
The Game against the Savanna Steam kicks off Saturday at 7:05 in the Albany Civic Center.
