SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) - County employees are taking part in a defensive driving seminar to help the county save money on insurance.
The Association of County Commissioners of Georgia put on the 6 hour seminar. More than 150 employees with access to county cars took part in the 3-day event.
The presenter said she aims to educate the participants on the dangers of distracted driving.
"The goal of the national safety council defensive driving course is, again, to make drivers more defensive and more aware of what's going on out there on the roadway," said Julie Hyre with Local Government Risk Management.
The class lowers the county insurance premiums as well as the individual premiums of the participants.
