ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany firefighters recommend you not burn items in your yard, saying it's a danger to your property and your neighbor's. A fire on East Park Road caused some damage Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters say the yard debris fire Calvin Beckham started the day before flared back up because of wind.

It burned large portions of his neighbor's privacy fence and shed.

Firefighters say homeowners can only legally burn a small amount of yard debris.

"You can burn limbs and leaves that fall on your property, up unto the diameter of an inch and a half. Anything larger than that is supposed to be hauled off," said AFD investigator Sam Harris.

Firefighters say fortunately a neighbor called 911 to report the fire before it threatened anyone's home.

They recommend you have your yard debris removed by the county.
