MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Police are working on warrants against a man they say tried to rob a hotel and a convenience store, before successfully robbing another gas station in broad daylight.
The man tried to rob the Raceway on Veterans Parkway around 2:00 yesterday morning. Police say a valuable tip from a witness helped get this guy in custody.
A quick thinking clerk locked the door, but they are still nervous after the foiled armed robbery.
An employee on duty today calls it her worst nightmare. "It worries me every night that I work," said Veronica Thomason.
Video shows the robber running off right after the alarm was hit.
Investigator says the crime spree started here at the Holiday Inn Express on Veterans Parkway, but he was only getting started.
Next they say he came to the Raceway just a mile up the road and unsuccessfully tried to rob them.
But he still wasn't done. Last, they say he went to the One-Stop, where he actually got inside and robbed the store.
"Individual was wearing the exact same type of clothing come a white shirt over his head, shoe was the same," said Moultrie Police Investigator David Jones.
Surveillance video captures the robbery at One Stop as the robber gets a load of cash and runs off.
In the robbery at Raceway, you can see his clothes appear to be the same. And then at the Holiday Inn, you see a masked man sneaking up before running off.
A nearby witness spotted this same speeding white car near the One Stop Store and told police. "About two and a half hours later we were able to spot a white Dodge Avenger, stop the vehicle, and identify the suspect. He subsequently admitted to some of these crimes," said Jones.
Jones says the tip was huge in the investigation, but he has a warning for other businesses open overnight. "Keep your doors locked. It deterred and armed robbery at these two businesses," said Jones.
Back at the Raceway, the arrest is big news. "I'm glad that he is caught. I mean, he deserves to be caught. I don't think anybody should have to go through that," said Thomason.
Jones says he's securing warrants for two counts of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, one count of armed robbery, and weapons charges.
They are withholding the suspect's name until charges are official.
