The city of Tifton is expecting a big economic boost, thanks to a local investment by a worldwide shipping company.

United Parcel Service is currently installing a natural gas station at their packing plant in Tifton.

The trucking company will then pay Tifton to fill their trucks with natural gas.

The city will have to spend about $100,000 to send a gas line to the plant, but they anticipate making at least $100,000 a year once the plant is up and operational.

"Natural gas burns clean and efficiently, and it's just a great opportunity for both of us and UPS," said Donna Pate of Tifton Natural Gas.

The plant should be operational by April 20th.
