Alma driver charged in hit-and-run

ALMA, GA (WALB) -

A suspected drunk driver is in the Bacon County jail charged in a hit and run crash that injured a woman in a wheelchair.

Alma Police responded to a hit and run on Wednesday, March 24, 2016.

Officers found Loretta Graham had been struck by a car on S. Wayne St. near the intersection of E. 20th St.

Graham was thrown from her powered wheelchair with head injuries.

The vehicle that hit Graham fled the scene, but officers were able to find the vehicle and the driver.

Michael Anderson was arrested and charged for leaving the scene of an accident. He could be charged with DUI once officers receive the lab results.

    The Lee County fire chief is issuing a warning tonight about how hot playground equipment can get during the summer. Chief David Forrester said some equipment can reach more than 150-degrees this time of the year.
