ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

You can have a hand in getting East Albany's new Boys and Girls Club ready.

Thornton Community Center is undergoing a major renovation and expansion so it can house the club.

Starting at 11 o'clock Saturday, volunteers are invited to help with the work at the gym.

"Policing of the interior of the gym itself," said Assistant City Manager Wes Smith of the work people can help with. " Two crews picking up trash We're out there now trimming back the bushes and things like that so we can get to all the trash in the area, and then we'll have a 4th crew working on taking down some fencing."

The project should be done by May 1st in time for summer programs.
