TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia State Patrol Post in Tifton says a child was hit by a car just after 5:00 Wednesday evening on Pickard Avenue and 13th Street.

The GSP says a five-year-old child came onto the street from the sidewalk on an electric scooter.

37-year-old Kutura Taylor driving a  Ford Explorer, didn't see the child, and tried to stop.

Troopers say Jayden Boone, who has existing medical conditions, was airlifted to a children's hospital in Atlanta with serious injuries.

The trooper we spoke with said he's holding boy's name until they figure out his condition.

Trooper William Hurt said, "Slow down. even if you're doing the speed limit, if you know it's in the morning or afternoon and kids are out playing, slow down and just be more aware of what's going on in your surroundings."

No charges are expected to be filed.
