BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

More Solar Panels could be coming to Decatur County.

County leaders say companies are in talks with landowners interested in putting large solar farms on their land.
It could be several months before they know whether the projects will happen.

They say the solar farms don't create a lot of jobs but are still good for the economy.

"The good side is they are not taxing your school system and your roads and your hospital emergency room,” said Rick MCcaskill, Executive Director of Development Authority Bainbridge/Decatur County. “So really all of the tax money that comes in gets to go in the general fund and it's just something that we really need."

Decatur County currently has two solar farms, including an 800-acre one that's the largest solar farm east of the Mississippi River.
