ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Crews responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of West 1st Avenue Monday evening.

The call came in around 6:30 p.m.

Officials said that when they arrived on scene, flames were reaching between 20 and 25 feet in the air. And it appeared that most of the damage was done in the rear of the home.

The house was abandoned and nobody was hurt.

"Yeah you do have the worry of maybe a vagrant coming into an abandoned house and setting a fire but right now we don't have any inclination that that's what's going on here," said Captain Kenny Loudenbarger with the Albany Fire Department.

The Albany Fire Department is investigating what caused the fire.
