Convict to be sentenced for abusing wife

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of choking and beating his wife.

Late Friday, night a Dougherty County Jury found 38-year-old Michael Thomas guilty of aggravated assault-strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass.   

He was found not guilty of kidnapping.

On March 1st, 2015, Santamigo Thomas jumped out of a moving car and ran into the McDonalds on North Slappey screaming for help. 

Prosecutors say her husband demanded money from her, then choked her unconscious and drove away with her in her car.

She came to, and escaped.
