ALBANY, GA (WALB) - People in Albany spent part of their day at the gun range Saturday, learning about gun safety. Over 20 gun owners attended the Albany Police Department's Basic Citizens Firearms class.
The first part of the class covered topics such as how to properly use a gun and carrying laws.
Afterwards, participants got some one on one time with firearm instructors at a nearby gun range.
"It's a huge responsibility and having a little education with that responsibility can go a long way. You'll know how things are going to be handled, if in the event that it's going to go to the prosecution stage and you'll be educated on how to properly use your weapon," said APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks.
The officers were excited with the day's turnout.
They plan to organize more firearms classes in the future.
