ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Code Enforcement officers urge everyone to remember requirements when putting up yard signs along streets.
They haven't seen a big increase in yard signs lately, but they know it is coming with the election season.
Those signs have to be off the right of way, which means behind the power poles, ditches, or phone and cable boxes.
Officers say so far they are not seeing much of an issue, but know it's coming.
Dougherty County Code Enforcement will hold onto confiscated signs for a very short time and then dispose of them.
The Department of Transportation will also confiscate improper signs on state highways.
DOT officials say they typically keep signs 30 days before discarding them.
