Drug sweep defendants named in Albany Federal Court

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Detention hearings were held today in a 21 person federal indictment charging they were part of a major drug operation in the Valdosta and Tifton areas, including charges those drugs lead to at least one death.

The indictment was unsealed in Albany Federal Court yesterday, with a number of the 21 indicted defendants making their first appearances. 
Detention hearings were held for some this afternoon.

Federal prosecutors say Antron Miles, also known as 'Bird,' is one of ringleaders of the operation.  Miles is indicted, but has not been arrested yet.

The indictment says the 21  distributed large amounts of Meth, cocaine, marijuana, and heroin from October 2014 until August 2015.

Bobby Earl Grantham, Jr. is charged with distribution of heroin in July, that led to the death of an unnamed victim.
