Atlanta airport moves toward allowing ride-sharing services

ATLANTA (AP) - Officials at Atlanta's airport are moving toward allowing ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft - a reversal of its practice of banning the services from curbside pickup.

Miguel Southwell, general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, on Thursday said airport customers want the services. He made the announcement at the inaugural "State of the Airport" address on Thursday at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Southwell said airport officials intend to present the plan to the Atlanta City Council on March 30, and that plans call for the ride-sharing services to be allowed by July 1.

Details of the proposal that will go to the city council weren't released.
