DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County's Sheriff officially announced he will run for a third term on Monday.

With a crowd of friends and supporters surrounding him, Kevin Sproul officially kicked off his re-election bid.

Sproul began in the Sheriff's Office in 1982 as a detention officer, and was elected sheriff in 2008.

Sproul said in his 7 years, his office has never exceeded their budget.

"I'll tell you what my philosophy is. It's not our money. It's the people's money. And if it was your money would you spend it for that," said Sproul.

Currently, Sproul has no announced opposition.
