ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Bicyclists pedaled into downtown Friday night to participate in the first ever Flint River Roll. Enthusiastic riders gathered near the Albany Welcome Center and enjoyed music from a DJ.
Some riders decorated their bikes.
A local bike club partnered with the city of Albany to host the bike ride, kick off marathon festivities, and attract families downtown.
One of the organizers hopes it will be the first of many rides.
"It was very nice, because the streets are closed off and it's a very scenic ride. You're able to ride without traffic through downtown and its just an excellent opportunity," said event organizer Richard Thompson.
Bike rentals were available for those who didn't have their own bikes.
Organizers hope to make the Flint River Roll an annual event.
