Some DISH Network customers receive both local and distant network channels, such as ABC, NBC, CBS, and/or FOX.
When the Congress passed the December, 2004 Satellite Home Viewer Extension and Reauthorization Act, the ability to have both local and distant channels ended, and customers must choose one or the other.
The new law says that customers must notify DISH Network by April 7, 2007, whether they want local OR distant channels. If you do not choose distant channels, you will lose them by April 17, 2005.
After April 7, 2005, EchoStar is barred from providing both local and distant channels.
