ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Hundreds of volunteers are preparing to help out with the 10th annual Albany Snicker's Marathon.
On Thursday, at the Albany Welcome Center downtown, they picked up their volunteer packets that included a t-shirt, water battle and bag.
Organizers expect close to 1,800 people to volunteer at water stations and the finish line.
Becky Elder said that she is excited to volunteer as a road marshal for the first time.
"I can't think of anything better that I would like to volunteer for than things here in our local community because giving back to your local community is so very important and supporting the events that are in our community is also so very important. So volunteer," said Elder.
More than 1,500 runners signed up for this year's marathon and half marathon which will start Saturday at 7 a.m.
The Mardi Gras Street Festival will kick off at noon.
