Man indicted after D.A. says victim was stabbed, left for dead

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man is indicted for stabbing an acquaintance during a robbery. 

Dawayne Anderson is indicted for eight counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, kidnapping, and weapons charges.

Prosecutors say December 10th Anderson broke in the back door of Lenwood Thomas' home on West Gordon Avenue, and stabbed and robbed him.

"This allegedly took place in his home, and he was stabbed multiple times, and left for dead," said Greg Edwards, Dougherty D. A.      

Prosecutors say Thomas is recovering after the attack and robbery. 

Anderson is indicted as a recidivist for other criminal convictions.

    Several Albany churches are joining hands this week to end violence through prayer by hosting a continued tent revival tour in areas of high crime.  Fisherman of Men for Christ and five other churches will have a tent-gathering starting Monday, until Friday on the corner of West Whitney and Jefferson Street.

    A number of volunteers from counties surrounding Arlington, assisted the American red Cross by giving food to those in need for disaster storm relief efforts.     The Southwest Georgia American Red Cross Chapter stepped in immediately on Saturday to open a comfort station for folks in Arlington.  It was stationed at a gym on Pioneer Road after the storm damaged a number of homes.

    It's been a little over 24 hours since a severe storm swept through Arlington, leaving folks to pick up the pieces.  Sunday night, Arlington Police said a number of residents are still without power and water in that city.
