ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Greg Edwards announces he will seek third term as Dougherty County District Attorney.

He has worked in this office since 1990, and replaced Ken Hodges as district attorney in 2008.

Edwards had served as Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Dougherty Judicial Circuit since July 1995. His legal career began with the Georgia Legal Services Program in 1984.

In 1989 he entered private practice and in 1990, he was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney. He has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Edwards said his experience is one reason he brings justice to the community.

Edwards said "I served as the President of the District Attorney's Association during the past term. That gave me some wider leadership opportunities with my fellow prosecutors."

No other announced opposition. Qualifying begins next week.
