ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Students at Sherwood Acres Elementary School honored the legacy of Doctor Seuss on Wednesday.
Each day this week, students enjoyed Dr. Seuss book themed activities.
The event was in celebration of the Read Across America initiative.
This part of the project was an observance held on the school day closest to March 2nd, the birthday of Doctor Seuss.
Teachers said his books are not only fun but productive for the students.
"With Dr. Seuss, a lot of his books have rhyming words, and that's something big in kindergarten and in the lower grades. So they really enjoy those books," said kindergarten teacher Veronica Reece.
On Monday, students sampled green eggs and ham, Tuesday students became "foxes in socks", wearing crazy socks to fit the role and on Wednesday, they celebrated Doctor Seuss' birthday with a birthday cake to share with special guests.
