Many members of the community shared the joy of reading with Dougherty County students.

This was Read Across America Day, and a lot of folks like WALB NewsTen's Jim Wallace went to schools to read a book with the students.
Jim read a Dr. Seuss book to Ms Thompson's second grade class and Ms. Willis' fifth grade class, showing them that reading is fun.

Sherwood Acres Elementary School Parent Facilitator Timothy Robinson said "Understand the importance of knowing what the books are about.  To have fun about what the books are about. And just to enjoy having a relaxing time as they are read to today."

Sherwood Acres Elementary officials say they were very happy with the dozens of parents and community members who took time to read to the students Wednesday.
