CRISP CO., GA (WALB) -

Sheriff Billy Hancock announced he's running for re-election.  He was elected in November 2014 to serve the unexpired term of former Sheriff Donnie Haralson who passed away after fighting cancer.

Sheriff Hancock mentioned several things, good and bad, that have happened over those two years and promised to continue his fight to improve the community.

“I am running for sheriff again. The great people of this community trusted us two years ago with over 87% of the votes. And I promise the same dedicated and transparent service for the next four years,” said Sheriff Hancock

Ricky Redding is the only person who's announced intentions to run against Sheriff Hancock at this time.

The primary election will be May 24th.
