ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

“I was sitting in the chair and it just sounded like a bomb exploded,” says Tina Brazel, with Ace’s Liquor.

Workers at Ace's Liquor are cleaning up after a car backed into their building just after 2 this afternoon.

Two workers and at least one customer were inside the store at the time.

Tina Brazel says she was standing behind the counter when it happened.

Well we kind of knew what happened after we calmed down a little bit, and the guy driving the car came in and he was doing fine, says Brazel.

No word yet on how much damage was caused to the building, or if the driver will be charged.

Brazel says the driver told them his foot slipped on the brake.

Despite damage to the building, workers said the store would remain open, including their drive thru.

For the older generation, people remember the pre-flood, pre-Albany Mall days when downtown Albany was the place to shop and eat. Now, it's the younger generation that's pushing for a vibrant downtown.
