Dougherty County sets up voting machines for Super Tuesday

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Monday Dougherty County workers set up the electronic voting machines in the 28 precincts, preparing for Super Tuesday.

The March 1st Presidential Preference Primary in Georgia is the only item on the ballot.

Only two thousand people voted during early voting in Dougherty County.

Supervisors are hoping all the recent campaigning news will stimulate voters to turn out at the polls.

"We spend taxpayers moneys as if all fifty thousand who are registered are going to turn out," said Ginger Nickerson, Dougherty County Elections Supervisor.  "Because we want to be prepared.  We think every election that voters should turn out."

The polls will be open from 7  to 7 Tuesday.
You are required to choose to vote for the Democratic or Republican Party.
