Woman trapped in burning car suffers injuries

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Emergency officials in Albany had to rescue a woman who was stuck in a burning car early Thursday morning.

At approximately 12:16 a.m., Albany police say a 23-year-old woman was driving on the 1200 block of West Highland Avenue when she hit a tree and the vehicle caught on fire.

Three officers and a citizen had to pull her out of the car.

The Albany Fire Department and EMS were also on the scene.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Overnight, officials were working to notify her family.
