LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

A Lee county man who says he's been dealing with regular flooding for 17 years won't get help from the county.

In 1997, the county raised Lumpkin Road which often traps water in Larry Christmas's lawn like a dam during heavy rain.

His home was flooded for 10 days in 1998.

"We've had a lot of dry time in that period," said Christmas. "So it hasn't been too bad. But now with this El Nino pattern coming in here and it being wet, we're gritting our teeth and bearing right now just waiting to get flooded again."

County officials decided not to do anything.

They say it would cost $80 thousand to fix the problem. They say that's too expensive and could lead to requests to spend money in other places that have drainage issues.
