ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The House Rules committee will hold a vote on a bill permitting guns on state college campuses under the Gold Dome today.
Speaker David Ralston and other top Republicans have supported the bill which is sponsored by Rep. Rick Jasperse.
Jasperse, a Republican from Jasper, says his bill would allow anyone with a state license to carry a concealed handgun on any university or college campuses owned by the state.
The university system of Georgia has long been against people weapons on its campuses.
The Georgia House passed a law in 2014 expanding where Georgians can carry guns, and that included college campuses.
However, the Georgia Senate deleted the campus language from the bill it approved.
