ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Agencies from across south Georgia came to Albany for the first annual Law Enforcement Ball.
The event was organized to pay respect to the men and women who wear the badge.
Speakers commended the officers who put their lives at risk to protect the area every day of the year.
Governor's Office of Highway Safety Director Harris Blackwood said these officers deserve to be recognized for their service.
"There have been some folks of late that have said less than flattering things about law enforcement and I'll tell you," he said, "we don't deserve that in this world."
Blackwood said events like this show law enforcement agencies that the community cares.
