MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - The Moultrie community is showing their support for their championship football team, with a fundraiser. Cars circled around Lakeside Assembly of God Saturday for "Chomp for Champs."
"Moultrie is a community of heart. They just open up and say what can we do to help you," said event coordinator Susan Childs.
The Colquitt County Packers Football team collected tickets for pork chop plates made by over 100 volunteers.
"We had 50 businesses in this community support this endeavor," said Rush Propst.
Fans could also purchase championship t-shirts.
The money will go towards their state championship rings and pennants for the cheerleaders.
"The Packer Football team and Coach Rush Propst has given us something great to be proud of here in this county, and we just trying to give back to these boys," said Heath Tatum.
Their goal is to sell 2,000 plates.
The team will receive their rings at their banquet next week.
