The Moultrie YMCA will soon receive a $12,000 grant to provide educational programs for young children and their families.

The center is one of five in the state to receive the money from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.

The money will be used to promote health, education, and community connection.

Chief Financial Officer Lynn Hamm said this grant will give parents motivation to get involved as their kids grow.

"Everybody is so busy everyday and it's so very important to go ahead at that young age and start being involved with your child," said Hamm.  "So, that as they get older, it's something that's easier to do. And it's going to make the child a better person."

Hamm said the events funded by the grant should begin next month.
