ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Georgia House committee passed a bill Wednesday that will allow licensed gun owners to carry their weapons on Georgia college campuses.
Opponents are angry because the bill was not on the agenda for Wednesday's Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee hearing.
One student at Albany State said that guns don't belong on a college campus.
"College is supposed to be a time when you're growing, maturing and understanding yourself. Not for where I have to worry about if I'm going to walk down somewhere say something to the wrong person and get shot," said graduating senior Kajha Lawson.
Two years ago, the House approved a gun bill that would have allowed guns on college campuses. The Senate removed that provision because of opposition from the Board of Regents and college leaders.
