ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Mississippi law enforcement agencies are searching an area of south Jackson, MS for a Naylor man, wanted in Georgia.

Authorities are looking for 35-year-old Wesley Walton of Naylor, on felony vehicle theft charges. He was sighted today by a US Marshal’s task force in a truck he stole in Lowndes County, in which he tried to run over officers.

One officer fired his weapon in an attempt to stop the vehicle, blowing out two of the truck’s tires. Walton jumped out of the vehicle, and took off running through the woods.

Georgia State Troopers tried to stop Walton on Old Valdosta Road near the intersection of GA Highway 122 on Sunday, but he took off. He stole a white 2012 Ford F150 with a gun inside the truck, and drove away.

Walton is described as a white male, five feet, ten inches tall, weighing 190 pounds with brown eyes and hair. If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of Wesley Walton contact the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 601-987-1530.
