An Americus woman is warning residents about a scam call she received.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, Carmen Mansfield said she received a call from someone claiming to be with Publisher's Clearing House, telling her she won $2.8 million and a Mercedes Benz.

Mansfield was told she just had to go to Walmart and send a MoneyGram for more than $500.

"I said wait a minute, hold it. If I won 2.8 million dollars when you get here with my car and check I'll pay you then. He hung up the phone," said Mansfield.

Mansfield said that she tried to redial the number she received the call from, but it was disconnected.

She said the scammers didn't even know her name or where she lived.
