BLAKELY, GA (WALB) -

Animal advocates in Early County are working to save animals.

Volunteers formed Friends of Blakely in December and since then have adopted out more than 30 animals.
There are only three animals in the Early County Animal Shelter right now.
Amanda Willis founded the organization through Facebook and says the community response has been great.

"We have volunteers coming, we've had so many donations the city's been great helping us,” said Amanda Willis, Founder. “It's been a whirlwind and emotional roller coaster, but it's been wonderful. It's all worth it."

The organization still needs volunteers to help with cleaning, feeding, transporting, and walking dogs.
You can help volunteer by calling the Blakely Animal Shelter at 229-724-7474.
