BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

County commissioners voted recently to stop devoting tax money specifically to operate The Pines Golf Course.

The Bainbridge-Decatur County Recreation Authority will take over full management and must find a way to run the golf course under the authority's current budget.

"That's the purpose of the recreation authority to offer recreation of programs throughout the county and they felt is was their obligation to take it," said Recreational Authority Executive Director, Al Kelley.

The Recreation Authority will take responsibility for the Pines Golf Course on July 1st.

Members are currently looking at the financial situation to try to come up with a way to keep the course open.
