Someone on a bucket shoots at Interstate commuter in Adel

ADEL, GA (WALB) -

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says that a woman returning from her job out of town, heard a gunshot as she passed someone this morning. It happened on Exit 32 about 4:00AM Thursday.

The victim told deputies that she saw someone seated on a bucket near the roadway, dressed all in black. As she approached, the person stood up, and she heard a gunshot. She quickly went to Old Coffee Road, and into Cecil where she stopped at a store.

Investigators went to the scene, and found evidence that supported the victim's story, but found no one.

Cook County Sheriff Doug Hanks encourages citizens to be vigilant in their surroundings and report any suspicious persons or vehicles they may encounter. "We want to notify people as soon as possible in instances such as this where the public's safety could be at risk."

The investigation continues to progress as witness interviews are being conducted and evidence is processed.

The Sheriff s Office is being assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

If anyone has any information about this incident or any of a similar nature, contact the Cook County Sheriff s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 229-896-7471or your local law enforcement agency.
