Valdosta PD arrests two for prostitution

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta Police Department conducted an investigation into possible prostitution in the city. Undercover Detectives made contact with two women who were attempting to solicit for sex.

On the first operation, they investigated Amanda Laverne Williams, and arrested her for Prostitution, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

A short time later, detectives located Shalena Harvey-Buick, and found probable cause to arrest Harvery-Buick, also for Prostitution.

"The Valdosta Police Department believes that Prostitution leads to narcotics use, the degradation of women, and can have long term negative effects on the community at large. The Valdosta Police Department will continue to investigate and enforce the law on prostitution," said VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry.

If anyone has any information regarding any acts of prostitution, they are asked to contact the Valdosta Police Department Narcotics Unit at 229-293-3145 or leave any anonymous tip at 229-293-3091.
