LEE CO., GA (WALB) - It turns out there was some truth to a Facebook post about trouble outside the Lee County Walmart that the sheriff said was a hoax.
Surveillance video from Walmart on Ledo Road Friday at 11:13AM shows a woman, whose name the sheriff is not releasing park a long
way from the store.
She says a man with dreadlocks in the car next to her, shouted vulgar statements at her.
She went into the store for about 15 minutes, then asked employees to walk her back to her truck.
No one reported the incident to the sheriff's office until after our story about a Facebook post, claiming men were threatening to rape women at the Walmart.
"Contact us at the Sheriff's Office and let us know so we can keep the Walmart shoppers and other places of business, keep them safe. That way we can put extra patrols in the area," said Sheriff Reggie Rachals Lee County
The Sheriff wants people to report problems to law enforcement instead of first posting on social media, so as not to cause a panic.
