MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) - Mitchell County Animal Control will soon have a new name and mission.
Next Month, the facility will become Mitchell County Animal Rescue.
So far, 40 volunteers have signed up to run the shelter.
The new Board of Directors is currently collecting money and supplies for renovations, new fencing, cleaning supplies, and food.
"The county has been gracious enough to hand this over to us so we are really starting from zero where we thought and now we are actually starting with an actual facility so we are excited about that.," said Susan Jamerson, Board of Directors for the Mitchell County Animal Rescue.
The new board of directors will take over the shelter March 1st.
