Man arrested after driving away from police officer

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A South Georgia man was arrested after driving away from a Thomasville police officer.

Investigators say Denize Williams was initially pulled over because his tail lights weren't on.

Investigators say Williams sped off.

Then he jumped out of the car and ran away. Officers found him in the 800 block of East Clay street.

"Shortly after the vehicle was located abandoned, another officer was located in the area and located Denize Williams who was the driver that sped away from the officer," said Thomasville police officer Major Eric Hampton.

Williams is charged with a DUI, suspended license, and eluding a police officer.
