Lee Co. teacher gets grant to help educate students
LEE CO., GA (WALB) -
A Lee County Middle School Teacher was awarded a $5,000 grant to help teach his students about electricity.
The money from Sumter EMC will help Brian Soash provide hands-on science, technology, engineering and math lessons for his 8th graders.
They'll use what they learn to create their own electrical devices.
"It's a significant grant, and it's really a great opportunity to make something that's intangible for a lot of students hands-on and tangible, so they can make that personal connection and hopefully remember it for the rest of their lives," said Soash.
The grant money comes from Sumter EMC's "Round Up" program.
Customers can round up their bills and Sumter EMC donates that money to a worthy causes.
