ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A man pleaded guilty in court Monday to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in credit card rewards points, after using them to live out lavish dream trips around the world.
Freddie Lee Giddens, 45, pleaded guilty to one count of felony computer theft and seven counts of misdemeanor theft by taking.
Prosecutors said Giddens illegally booked expensive flights and hotel rooms around the world from computers at a public library using a fake ID and stolen credit card numbers.
He was also cashing in reward points for hundreds of thousands of dollars in flights, hotel rooms, and merchandise.
He kept up the scheme for a period of four years.
Giddens will be sentenced at a later date. Prosecutors are working to tally up the amount of restitution he'll have to pay back.
