LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says they have not received any official reports of women being attacked at the Walmart on Ledo Road and that any allegations of them are simply not true.

Officials made the announcement on their Facebook page Monday morning, after hearing about similar claims on the social networking site.

Sheriff Reggie Rachals said he is investigating if any charges will be filed over a hoax Facebook post about alleged attacks.

He said his office fielded many calls after a Facebook post was shared.

Authorities encourage everyone to be aware of their surroundings while shopping.
