ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany and Dougherty County leaders made the needs of our area known at the state level. Wednesday was Albany Dougherty day at the state capitol.
Elected officials and chamber of commerce and school leaders met with Governor Nathan Deal and state lawmakers, encouraging them to support projects that will help our area.
"Certainly the governor's recommended appropriation of 1.1 million dollars for the Georgia National Guard Armory to the board Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany is a huge deal for our community and for Southwest Georgia and the National guard," said interim president/CEO of the Albany Chamber of Commerce, Barbara Rivera Holmes.
The House and Senate each passed resolutions declaring yesterday Albany-Dougherty County Day and commending the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce for its work.
