Albany updates 5-year housing plan

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany's Department of Community and Economic Development is updating the city's 5-year plan to identify community development and affordable housing needs.

The director said they're working to boost funding and build new partnerships.

They want citizens to attend four assessment meetings this month to give their input.

"So the assessment allows for citizen input which means the citizens advice as what they consider what the priority needs are in their community and that input is incorporated into the consolidated plan which dictates where the funding should go for the next five years,” said Shelena Hawkins, Director.

Here is a list of the assessment meetings and where they will be held:

  • February 9th - Cathedral of Praise Church, 1510 A West Broad Ave. at 6:00 p.m.
  • February 10th - Monroe Comprehensive High School 900 Lippitt Drive at 6:00 p.m.
  • February 11th - Greater Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 302 Atkins Street at 6:00 p.m.
  • February 12th - Albany State University/Simmons Hall/Room 101, 504 College Drive at 12 p.m.
