ALBANY, GA (WALB) - About a dozen officers trained with instructors with the Albany Fire Department Wednesday. They practiced how to perform CPR on an infant.
Because police officers are often the first emergency responders to reach victims, they say knowing CPR is critical for them.
"For us to learn proper techniques. Keeping updated with things that are going on with CPR. If there are any changes, then that's very important our officers know how to do it," said APD Sgt. Schemika Foster.
Police Officers are initially trained in CPR at the academy but must be re-certified every two years. The Albany Fire Department trains most of the city employees.
