TURNER CO., GA (WALB) - A body was found Monday afternoon in Turner County.
The GBI and the Turner County Sheriff Andy Hester confirmed that a body was found around 2 p.m. in a swamp off Rock House Rd.
Sheriff Hester said that the body could be related to a chase that ended in the area on January 24th.
The sheriff said that they arrested 4 people and didn't know if any others were in the car at the time.
The search on Monday was initiated because DeKalb County officials told Turner County that a suspect in the chase hadn't spoken with family since last week. A GSP helicopter circled the pond until 3 a.m. on the 24th and never found anything.
Agents from the GBI office in Perry are assisting with the investigation.
Sheriff Hester explained that he called in the GBI to keep the investigation transparent since it could be related to their chase from more than a week ago.
The body has not been identified.
